Eaves Brook recently surprised one of their residents with a visit from some fluffy friends, to celebrate a very important occasion. Eaves Brook who are a member of Harvest Housing Group, organised the visit for resident Alice Astin, who is due to celebrate her 99th Birthday on the 21 April 2008.

Mrs Astin, a resident of Forest Brook House, is a keen animal lover and was delighted to receive the special visit - from a 4-week-old lamb and some chicks to the sheltered housing scheme where she has lived for 16 years.

Mr Gordon McAteer, Senior Estate Officer at Eaves Brook made the visit possible by bringing in his pet lamb and chicks. On the day of the visit Gordon also brought along a feeding bottle, much to the delight of Mrs Astin, who quickly delivered it to the hungry lamb. Alice’s neighbours at the scheme joined her in the communal lounge to spend some time with the two-week-old chicks and the lamb.

Commenting on the visit, Neighbourhood Regeneration Officer at Eaves Brook, Mandy Foster said:

“Mrs Astin is unable to get out as much as she used to and as she is a keen animal lover, we wanted to give her a surprise with a difference to celebrate her 99th Birthday. From the delighted look on her face throughout the visit, I think we succeeded in doing just that”.
