> Harvest Team Walk for a Worthy Cause
As the clocks strike midnight on Friday 23 May, the streets of Manchester will be filled with generous people walking a 10k circuit in order to raise vital money for the city’s St Ann’s Hospice. The charitable walkers, who will consist of local celebrities such as Newsreader Gordon Burns and various Coronation Street cast members, will also include some of Harvest Housing Groups very own ‘stars’, who have adopted the name ‘The Harvest Honeyz’ for the event.
The Honeyz, who are made up of the Harvest’s Secretaries Networking Group and will be led by their Chair, Kathy Cowell and Chief Executive, Ian Perry, hope to raise £1,500 for the Hospice which requires £16,000 each day to continue its vital work.
Last year, the midnight walk raised an amazing £75,000, an amount that helped the Hospice to improve the quality of life of people living with life-threatening illnesses in Greater Manchester, while supporting their families and carers.
Commenting on their involvement in the event, Ian Perry, said:
“The Harvest team is really looking forward to joining together to offer support to one of the city’s most valuable organisations”.
Mr Perry added:
“We would like to express our thanks for all the support we have received so far, along with the donations that have been made. They will hopefully go towards making life a little easier for the thousands of families affected by life-threatening illnesses”.
The St Ann’s Hospice 10k Midnight Walk will commence on the stroke of midnight on Friday 23 May from The City of Manchester Stadium and will follow a specially designed route through the city centre. The walk will be the first event this year for the St Ann’s Go Yellow Fundraising Appeal.
Anybody wishing to support the Harvest Honeyz in their charitable endeavour can do so by visiting their personalised ‘Just Giving’ web page at www.justgiving.com/harvesthoneyz. Donations can be made on-line and are secure.
