> Frontis Help to Secure Funding for Local Play Park
Birchwood’s Oakwood Park will see a welcome addition in the future with the arrival of a new Play Park, thanks to the hard work of the Friends of Oakwood Park, Frontis, Birchwood Town Council and Warrington Borough Council.
Together they have secured over £100,000 for the development of the Play Park on the site and a further application for £40,000 has been made to Wren, (Waste Recycling Environmental Limited). If successful, construction of the Play Park could commence as early as October.
Frontis, a member of Harvest Housing Group, are on the steering group for the park development and paid for a consultation from park planners in conjunction with Birchwood Town Council. Bernadette Bell, Neighbourhood Regeneration Officer at Frontis said:
“Oakwood Park is very popular with local residents, and the addition of the Play Park will make it an even more attractive community area. We are delighted that the first grant has been awarded and look forward to hearing the outcome of the Wren grant application. Everyone involved in the bid for funds has worked hard to ensure the improvement of the site”.
Local pupils from Birchwood High School were involved in proposing a theme of the Play Park through an organised art competition. Two pupils were eventually chosen for their ‘Oak Tree’ and ‘Woodland Animal’ themes, which were thought very appropriate for the Oakwood area.
