> Half Term Horticulture in Tameside
Youngsters from Hawthorn Road South in Droyslden will have their green fingers at the ready next week during the half-term holiday as they take part in a community environmental event.
The event, which will take place on Wednesday 28th May from 10am, has been organised by Manchester & District Housing Association, a member of Harvest Housing Group, and will see the young people planting sunflowers and tomatoes in pots and planters.
This environmental event is just one of the initiatives arranged and coordinated by M&D who aim to provide their residents with the opportunity to make a difference to their local surroundings.
Commenting on the event, Diane Russell, Neighbourhood Regeneration Officer for M&D said:
“This is a great way for children and young people to get involved in a community activity which gives them something practical to do, and hopefully helps to improve their respect for their environment.
Staff from M&D will be on hand during the event to help with activities and Tameside Youth Service will also be present to provide information about events in the area during the school holidays.
