> Gardening Greatness For Neighbourhood Group
A group of residents from Keeling Road in Cheadle have been putting their green fingers to very good use recently with the addition of plants, shrubs and rockeries to the neighbourhood.
The Keeling Road Neighbourhood Group who organised the positive improvements is made up of Residents of Moorlands Housing, a member of Harvest Housing Group. The members were announced as runners-up in Harvest’s Montgomery Neighbourhood Awards in 2007 and were awarded £1,000 to spend on planters and benches.
Since the award, the members have been working hard cutting out and planting flower beds, planting shrubs around the neighbourhood and forming a small shrubbed rockery area at the entrance of Keeling Road. Twenty planters were placed in front of residents’ homes and bench seating has since been added to ensure full enjoyment of the floral additions.
Commenting on the improvements, Neighbourhood Regeneration Officer for Moorlands Housing, Vanessa Messham said:
“The excellent improvements that have been made by the Neighbourhood Group have been extremely welcomed by all who live on Keeling Road. The Group continue to meet and work together looking at further ways to improve their neighbourhood. They are now sharpening their trowels in preparation for ‘Britain in Bloom’ and we wish them lots of luck”.
