> Mayor of Biddulph Due to Attend Special Birthday Celebrations
When: Tuesday 1 July 2008.
Where: Washington Close Sheltered Housing Scheme, Biddulph.
What: Mayor of Biddulph to help celebrate resident’s 99th Birthday.
A Moorlands Housing resident based at Washington Close Sheltered Housing Scheme in Biddulph is due to celebrate her 99th Birthday next week, and will receive a party to mark the occasion, due to be attended by the Mayor of Biddulph, Cllr Maureen Roberts.
Mrs Phyllis Walton will also be joined on her special day by fellow residents, friends, family and Moorlands Housing staff who will all be on hand to spoil the well-respected lady. Phyllis is considered to be an amazing example of independence, requiring no helpers or carers and still doing all her own home baking and gardening.
The Washington Close Residents’ Association organised a collection for Phyllis to buy her a special present and will be presenting it to her on the day. The Association, which was set up a year ago involves residents in day trips, quiz nights, gardening, yoga and computer activities.
Commenting on the event, Felicity Ford, Scheme Manager at Washington Close said:
“We are delighted to mark this very important occasion for a resident who is a wonderful example to us all”.
