Harvest Housing Group has launched the UK's largest ever energy efficient initiative in the social housing sector.

An impressive target has been set for the eco scheme devised by The Housing Corporation, EDF Energy and Eaga PLC, to distribute 8 million energy efficient Osram lightbulbs to around 2 million homes across the UK.

Harvest Housing Group are at the forefront of the initiative and are also committed to promoting the reduction of the carbon footprint across all of its neighbourhoods.

All of the subsidiaries within Harvest Housing Group will be taking part in the efficiency drive including Manchester & District Housing Association, Frontis, and Derwent & Solway Housing Association. The energy efficient bulbs will be distributed to each of the associations’ residents during September.

Commenting on the initiative, Ian Perry Harvest Housing Group's Chief Executive said;

" This project demonstrates our commitment to positively promoting group wide initiatives that contribute in the fight against climate change. As a Housing Group we have a wider social responsibility for the communities we serve. This initiative helps us to work towards safeguarding the environment in which all our residents and future generations live."

By implementing the use of Osram bulbs that use 80% less energy than ordinary lightbulbs Harvest Housing Group look forward to helping reduce carbon emissions and household electricity bills across all its neighbourhoods.
