> Frontis Helps Youngster Aim For the Stars
An original initiative is being introduced by Frontis, a member of Harvest Housing Group, designed to recognise and support hard working and ambitious youngsters in their neighbourhoods.
The initiative has been brought in specifically for children of Frontis residents who are the first in their family to attend university, and will award them £500 to help them continue on their academic journey.
The first ambitious youngster to benefit from the scheme is Karl Davies from Birchwood who was nominated by his mother after gaining an impressive 15 GCSEs from Cardinal Newman Catholic High School in Warrington and a further four A/AS levels from Priestly College. Karl was then offered a place at Manchester University to study Aerospace Engineering.
Bernadette Bell, Neighbourhood Regeneration Officer at Frontis said:
“Going away to university is a daunting prospect for anyone, especially for someone who is the first in their family to do so. We recognise what a great achievement this is and have decided to introduce an initiative to encourage and reward youngsters for their impressive efforts”.
Karl is due to begin his course at Manchester University in September 2009 and will no doubt find a good use for his hard-earned reward.
