Celebrations are due to take place in Siddick this month following the announcement that a youth partnership supported by Derwent & Solway Housing Association, a member of Harvest Housing Group has been awarded a grant of £30,000.

The Siddick and Northside Youth Partnership (SNYP) offers support, advice and activities for young people between the ages of 8 to 17 from two youth clubs situated in these Workington Neighbourhoods. Membership of the clubs is not exclusive to these two neighbourhoods and new members are always welcome.

The grant, which has been awarded by The Francis C Scott Charitable Trust, will enable the partnership to continue offering the support of a vital youth worker at both clubs and will also make it possible for them to organise events during the school term and throughout school holiday periods.

To celebrate the grant, SNYP will be holding a ‘Fun Day’ at Siddick Village Hall during the October half-term holidays on Tuesday 28th October, between 2 pm and 4 pm. Local young people are being encouraged to attend to enable them to sample some of the creative activities on offer throughout the year.

D & S, Young Cumbria and committee members of both the Northside Community Centre and Siddick Village Hall are working together to plan and host the day and continue to support the youth activities.

Attendees at the event will be able to try their hand at glass and pot painting, Halloween decoration and mask making, smoothie drink making and DJ and drumming workshops. Inflatables and refreshments will also be provided to add to the fun.

Commenting on the event, Estelle Kent, Neighbourhood Regeneration Officer at Derwent & Solway Housing Association said:

“The Youth Clubs are a fantastic place for young people to come and enjoy a safe and secure atmosphere whilst trying new activities and learning new skills. We are absolutely delighted that The FC Scott Charitable Trust is enabling us to continue with the Partnership through this grant”.

Estelle added:

“We hope to increase our intake over the coming months and the fun day will make it possible for anybody thinking about joining us to take a look at what we have on offer”.
