> Residents’ Association To Celebrate 10 Successful Years
What: 10-Year Anniversary Celebration for the
Biddulph East Residents’ Association.
When: Wednesday 3rd December 2008 – 1.30pm
Where: The Biddulph Resource & Information Centre (BRIC)
Residents of Biddulph are due to hold a special open day event at the Biddulph Resource and Information Centre (BRIC) this week to mark the 10-year Anniversary of the Biddulph East Residents’ Association.
The event will also bring together residents of Moorlands Housing (a member of Harvest Housing Group), BRIC Volunteers and representatives from the Residents’ Association.
Attendees will enjoy an official anniversary presentation, prize raffle, speeches and refreshments throughout the day, as well has having the opportunity to learn about the fantastic work the Residents’ Association has been involved in over the past decade.
BRIC was set up by the Residents’ Association in response to a community desire to have a one-stop venue where advice and assistance could be accessed on a wide range of services. The Biddulph community now has access to a friendly drop-in centre offering vital information and resources from: Moorlands Housing, the Citizen’s Advice Bureau, the local police, local councillors, after school clubs, internet facilities and Job Centre Plus.
Commenting, Vanessa Messham, Neighbourhood Regeneration Officer at Moorlands Housing said:
“Thanks to the Biddulph East Residents’ Association the community enjoys an array of initiatives that are all based on community engagement and helping and supporting local people in all aspects of their life. A decade on and they are still as dedicated to this vital centre as ever”.
More recently the Residents’ Association won a £2000 Montgomery Award from Moorlands Housing and Harvest Housing Group that was used to set up a furniture exchange shop, giving those in the community who may struggle with purchasing new furniture, the opportunity to access it second hand.
The Residents’ Association Chair Person, Sylvia Rushton has also recently set up a Community Café that provides food at reasonable prices for the community throughout the day.
