> Major Construction of Shared Equity Homes Begins in Tameside
An official ceremony took place on Grange Road North in Hyde, Cheshire recently to mark the start of major construction work of six new 3-bedroom houses by Manchester & District Housing Association, a member of Harvest Housing Group and local builder Bardsley Construction.
Manchester & District Housing Association will invest £558,000 into the project that is set to cost £1.2 million upon completion and underlines the Association’s commitment to working closely with Tameside Council.
The development is expected to be completed by Summer 2009 and will provide essential, high quality homes for larger families within the Tameside area. Each are expected to be valued at around £160,000 with a proposed 50% share being sold to prospective purchasers, enabling families to gain that all-important foot on the property ladder.
Commenting, Harvest Housing Group Chief Executive, Ian Perry said:
“We look forward to the completion of the homes later this year. The site of the development had stood previously derelict and the introduction of the new homes to the location will ensure that the area becomes a thriving neighbourhood once more”.
Each home will feature a number of environmental design features aimed at saving energy including a solar thermal heating system that works with the gas boiler to reduce the amount of gas used to provide hot water and space heating. This will mean both lower energy bills for residents and a reduction in carbon emissions for the environment, both of which Harvest Housing Group are committed to achieving.
