> Frontis Encourage Smarter Driving To Help The Environment
Frontis, a member of Harvest Housing Group will be demonstrating their commitment to reducing carbon emissions and helping staff to save money next week by taking part in a Smarter Driving Course, which is organised by the Energy Saving Trust.
Members of staff from both Frontis and Partington Housing Association will be taking the training course on 3, 4, and 5 March 2009 in Birchwood Warrington.
The course encourages drivers to make some simple changes to the way they drive, such as using gears correctly, accelerating properly and adopting a more fuel-efficient driving style. By adopting these elements drivers can then expect to see the following benefits:
- A reduction in annual fuel bills by £200- £250 per vehicle (based on a car travelling 12,000 miles per year)
- A reduction in carbon emissions by half a tonne per car per year
- A reduction in wear and tear on the vehicle
- A safer and less stressful experience.
Harvest Housing Group Chief Executive, Ian Perry said:
“By taking part in this Smarter Driving Course we are further demonstrating our commitment to positively promoting initiatives that contribute to the fight against climate change. We are working towards safeguarding the environment in which all our residents and future generations live and at the same time want to help our employees reduce fuel consumption and save money”.
The Smarter Driving training is delivered by qualified advanced driving instructors and is based on extensive research, which demonstrates that one to one tuition behind the wheel is the best way of changing driving techniques. The training takes only 50 minutes and is free, as it has been subsidised by the North West Regional Development Agency.
