What: Local MP to Attend Official Naming Ceremony of New Keswick Housing Development

Where: St Herberts Primary School, Trinity Way, Keswick

When: Friday 27 February – 10am

Derwent & Solway Housing Association, a member of Harvest Housing Group has recruited the help of pupils from a Cumbrian primary school to officially name the street where their new development of affordable family homes will be built.

Derwent & Solway Housing Association asked the pupils of St Herberts School in Keswick to run an internal competition to suggest a new street name and teachers at the school were delighted to come on board. Following a selection of suggestions a shortlist of names was put together and submitted to Allerdale Council for the final decision to be made.

Tony Cunningham MP will officially announce the winning name, which is being kept a closely guarded secret, at a visit to the site on Friday 27th February 2009 at 10am. Pupils of the school will also be taking part in the visit, with the children who suggested the new street names present at the ceremony.

The new development, which was given a “working title” of Nether Place, is being funded by Derwent & Solway Housing Association and the Housing Corporation and will consist of 42, three and four bedroom houses. The new family homes, which will be available to rent, will be located near Trinity Way in the Cumbrian town and completion is expected in early 2010.

Further details regarding the new development are available from Ben Brinicombe, Property Regeneration Manager at Derwent & Solway Housing Association on Tel: 07912 390 851.
