The Neighbourhood Management Team at Eaves Brook, a member of Harvest Housing Group, have recently engaged with Clayton le Moors residents to listen to their tales of the past and have teamed up with Local Artists, Globe Arts, to design a number of commemorative plaques that link to the tales of old and history in the area.

The launch of the Signs of Life Trail will take place on Friday 22 May at 12.00pm at the Arthur Wilson Centre, and the Accrington Pals Plaque, located on the Arthur Wilson Centre, will be unveiled by local resident and celebrity Street Sweeper, Paddy McLaughlin.

The plaques are dotted throughout Clayton le Moors and each depict their own tale, that include serpents that lurk in dark woods, battles of old, links with the Empire State building and the Taj mahal, to name a few. An informative booklet has also been published that forms a trail to each plaque, explaining the meaning and significance of each landmark for the area.

The Signs of Life Trail explores the main areas of Clayton le Moors from Enfield to Oakenshaw and is roughly two miles long. It takes in sights such as Mercer Park, which has held Green Flag Parks status for the past 4 years, and also the Leeds Liverpool Canal, to which Clayton le Moors owes its foundation and growth in the early 19th Century.
