> Trafford Luncheon Club Receives Welcome Financial Support
A Trafford based luncheon club for the over 55 community that was due to close due to lack of funding has been thrown a lifeline by Manchester & District Housing Association, a member of Harvest Housing Group.
The Chit Chat Club at Shrewsbury Street Community Centre in Old Trafford was established over twenty years ago by Trafford Probation Services and has been providing a welcome social venue for many people over the years.
Earlier this year members were informed by Trafford Metropolitan Borough Council that the luncheon club would have to close, which proved upsetting news for the local community and attendees alike. As some members of the club are Manchester & District Housing Association residents, they approached their Neighbourhood Regeneration Officer, Lorna Powell to ask if they could help in any way.
M&D were delighted to provide the £1,320.00 required to help the Chit Chat Club continue running for another year and along with partners, Voluntary Community Action Trafford, will help secure the funding required for the club’s long term success.
