Frontis Launch Junior Police Community Support Officer Programme
Frontis, a member of Harvest Housing Group, have recently initiated a scheme for their young residents that is intended to promote good citizenship and a sense of pride in their neighbourhood.
Working in conjunction with Cheshire Police, the Junior Police Community Support Officer programme is open to youngsters aged from 8 to 12 years and involves a wide variety of informative and positive activities.
Since commencing the programme, the Junior PCSOs have taken part in neighbourhood visits to discuss issues of littering and safety. They have also designed and made awareness posters, visited police cells at Risley Police Station in Birchwood, Warrington and had their fingerprints taken.
Organisers of the programme from Frontis also arrange various trips and parties for the Junior PCSOs, which are thoroughly enjoyed by all. In November the youngsters will visit Birchwood Fire Station to learn about firework safety.
Commenting, Neighbourhood Regeneration Officer at Frontis, Bernadette Bell said:
“Our young residents have shown real enthusiasm for the programme and I have received great feedback from both them and their parents. We are extremely keen to implement such initiatives within our neighbourhoods as it makes such a difference to the children’s lives and to the community as a whole, giving them increased responsibility for their surroundings. We look forward to many more positive activities over the coming months”.
Junior Police Community Support Officer meetings are held on the first Tuesday of every month and commenced in September. Frontis residents requiring further information can contact Bernadette Bell on Tel: 01925 856 684
