Sarah Brown Visits Northside Community Centre

Staff and volunteers at the Northside Community Centre in Workington welcomed Prime Minister’s wife, Sarah Brown on Saturday November 28 as she visited the town to witness the devastation caused by recent flooding across the region.

The Northside Community Centre, provided by Derwent & Solway Housing Association, provided a crucial point of contact for residents of the neighbourhood during the recent crisis by providing information and advice to those in need. Its members rallied to provide practical aids such as mobile phones, financial help and emergency contacts.

Mrs Brown spoke with members of the centre and residents affected by the floods and offered kind words of support and encouragement.

Commenting, Ann Douglas, Chair of the Northside Community Centre Management Committee said:
“We were honoured to welcome Mrs Brown to the centre and I know that the support she has shown has helped the residents enormously.”
