Elderly Residents Receive Welcome Support From ASDA
Derwent & Solway Housing Association, a member of Harvest Housing Group announced today that they have now provided intermediate accommodation for some of their elderly residents whose properties were affected by the floods in Cumbria, thus providing them with the comfort of more familiar surroundings until they are able to return to their permanent residences.
To help the residents settle in their temporary homes, ASDA have provided a variety of home essentials and on Wednesday 2nd December the Director of Derwent & Solway Housing Association, Mr Robert Porter, The Chair of the Board of Derwent & Solway, Michael Johnson and the Mayor of Keswick, Andrew Lysser, will welcome ASDA representatives to Derwent Close in Keswick to thank them for their generosity.
To date, ASDA have provided D&S residents with home essentials packs made up of four elements: soft furnishings such as bed linen and towels, kitchen items such as cutlery, pots, pans, tea, coffee and sugar, consumables such as soap powder and washing up liquid and an electric pack made up of kettles, toasters, freeview boxes and landline phones.
ASDA’s charitable foundation provided all items free of charge, a gesture that is to be recognised at the event on Wednesday.
Commenting, Director of Derwent & Solway Housing Association, Robert Porter, said:
“The elderly people concerned are some of our more vulnerable residents and we are delighted that we have been able to provide them with comfortable temporary homes to help alleviate some of the stress they have experienced over the past few weeks. The offer from ASDA is the icing on the cake and will really help to make the properties into homes for them and we could not be more grateful to them for their unwavering generosity and support. I know I speak for all the residents when I say thank you”.
Mr Porter added:
“We are currently working hard to ensure that residents are back in their repaired properties in the next two to three months, but in the meantime they will be able to enjoy some of the home comforts they are used to thanks to this kind gesture”.
