Moorlands Housing, a member of Harvest Housing Group, held a photo call in Leek on Monday 26 April to raise awareness of noise nuisance and the negative effects it can have on people.

The Housing Association used Noise Action Week 2010 to promote its recent efforts to address the issue and ensure that action is taken when a case of unacceptable noise occurs.

Noise Action Week is an annual initiative coordinated by Environmental Protection UK that aims to focus attention on the problems caused by neighbour noise and the solutions available to tackle it.

Moorlands Housing has recently invested in state of the art noise monitoring equipment and undergone special training to be able to investigate noise nuisance problems and corroborate complaints – especially where the complaint is contested by the alleged perpetrator.

Community Safety Case Management Officer at Moorlands Housing, Andrew Dunning said:

“Noise from neighbours is a frequent area of complaint and although in many cases these issues can be resolved quickly and amicably, we are often required to look further into a more serious or recurring case. We are here to ensure that all residents in the community feel supported and that any antisocial behaviour is dealt with appropriately.”
