Canine crusader ‘Morgan’ the terrier is Warrington’s newest anti-dog fouling champion.

Frontis, a member of Harvest Housing Group held a community Fun Day at Oakwood Local Park in Warrington on Saturday 31 July, with a variety of exciting features, including the community’s very first dog show!

The housing association used the event to launch a new anti dog fouling campaign and hopes to raise awareness of the antisocial aspects and dangers of the issue.

The dog show was a huge success, with dozens of dogs taking part all vying to be crowned handsomest dog, cutest puppy and best in show. For one particular dog, being crowned prettiest bitch could also be the start of a modeling career! Cairn Terrier, Morgan, aged 2 ½ and owned by local Frontis resident, Carol Downing, scooped the coveted title and has been asked by the housing association to be the ‘face of’ their new anti dog fouling campaign.

Dog fouling has become a problem in the Birchwood area and with Morgan on board, Frontis hope to tackle the issue by running awareness campaigns throughout the area over the coming months.

Morgan’s owner, Carol Downing said: “The dog show was a wonderful success. The turn out was fantastic and I am really pleased that Morgan won prettiest bitch. It’s also great to know that she will help to raise awareness of this important issue.”

Pet store, Pets at Home, provided the winning certificates and rosettes for the dog show as well as goodie bags filled with a new lead, cushion balls and dog food.

Frontis now hope that its campaign will help keep Oakwood Park and the surrounding areas clean and enjoyable for all local residents long into the future.
