Taking place from 12.30pm until 4pm visitors will be able to enjoy a variety of stalls, donkey rides, take part in a fancy dress competition, face painting, and be entertained by gymnastics and dance displays.

There will also be a free BBQ for the first 150 visitors to the ‘beach’ and local residents will also have the opportunity to show off their prize pooches in the Oakwood Fun Day Dog Show. There will be prizes for; Cutest Puppy, Handsomest Dog, Prettiest Bitch, Golden Oldie, Best Trick, Best Rescue Dog and Best in Show. Free micro-chipping will also be available for all dogs.

The fun-packed day is to raise funds to develop phase 3 of the park, which will include a fresh herb garden for all residents of Birchwood, alongside a map that highlights the abundance of free food in the area, which includes blackberries, sloes, cherries and apples.

Bernadette Bell from Frontis, said; “Oakwood Local Park has been a wonderful addition to the community. The fun day is a great day out for all the family and will help raise vital funds to continue developing the park. Friends of Oakwood Park will also be carrying out consultations with residents about what else they want to see developed in phase 3, so come along and have your say.”

Oakwood Local Park was officially opened in July 2009 and is the first of its kind in the Warrington area, being fully accessible to able bodied children and children with physical disabilities.

The day is being supported by Frontis, a member of Harvest Housing Group, Birchwood Lions, Birchwood Town Council, Pets at Home, Stronger Together and Cruden Property Services.

The Oakwood Beach themed Fun Day will take place on Saturday 30th July from 12.30pm until 4pm at Oakwood Local Park, on Admirals Road in Birchwood.
