> Harvest Housing Group Awards Inspirational Residents
Harvest Housing Group welcomed residents from across the North West on Saturday 3 September to their annual H Festival. Over 450 people attended the event, designed to bring residents young and old together to enjoy some fun and informative activities and to recognise the many achievements of their unsung community heroes.
A principal focus of the day were The Montgomery Awards, introduced by the Group in 2005 to recognise the amazing work residents undertake to help turn their neighbourhoods into places where people want to live and choose to stay, Harvest Housing Group’s central vision and aim.
The Awards in categories such as ‘Tenant of the Year’, ‘Most Inspirational Resident’ and ‘Most Inspirational Resident aged under 18’ were presented by Harvest Chief Executive Ian Perry and Chair of Harvest Board Kathy Cowell.
Kathy Cowell said:
“I can only say that it is inspiring to see just how hardworking and committed so many of our residents are to their communities. There is only one finalist for each award but many winners.”
Harvest Housing Group Chief Executive, Ian Perry, spoke about their Most Inspirational Residents:
“The awards celebrate those residents who work tirelessly in their communities to get things done and make a difference. Our under 18 award recognises the positive work that young people do in their communities to help others. It celebrates their voluntary work, their fund raising activities and their involvement in their communities.”
During the day many residents also took part in an X-Factor style competition, H-Factor, which was a resounding success. Talented singer/guitarist Alex Ravencroft (15) from Partington was named H Factor winner. Alex was presented with the H Factor winners trophy and won time in a professional recording studio. Runner up was Katie Nicholls (25) from Moorlands.
In addition residents were able to enjoy a range of activities including football, rugby and Thai boxing skills training, circus skills workshops, Zumba dancing, fun inflatables and a prize draw. The winner of the prize draw was Mr Lamb from Partington who selected the £250 cash as his prize.
