> It’s just like the ‘good olde days’ in Biddulph
The staff and residents from Moorlands Housing’s Washington Close scheme in Biddulph have been reminiscing about times gone by at a ‘Good Olde Days’ event, held as part of the National Housing Federation’s (NHF) Midlands Supported Housing Month, which is taking place throughout October.
The month-long initiative has been designed to raise awareness of the 3,500 services that are accessed by over 228,000 supported housing users in the region. These targeted provisions help over 177,000 older people receive the support they need to live independently.
The ‘Good Olde Days’ event was one of over 430 NHF events taking place across the region to acknowledge the invaluable work carried out by supported housing providers, and to promote the positive impact they have on communities across the Midlands. Residents from Washington Close gathered for an afternoon of nostalgia, with a quiz, old-fashioned sing along and some traditional fish and chips.
Mick Taylor, support services manager at Moorlands Housing, said:
“The event had everyone talking about the ‘Good Olde Days’, and even gave me the opportunity to serenade residents and staff with my guitar! Events like this are really important for bringing together our residents, partners, and key decision makers, such as local councillors, to highlight the important work that takes place across the sector.”
