Moorlands Housing, a member of Harvest Housing Group, and Staffordshire Moorlands District Council have recently launched an App for iPhone and Android that will make their ‘Choice Based Lettings’ scheme, Homechoice, even more accessible for customers looking for a new home.

The App, ‘Moorlands CBL’ which was launched on 5th October, is free to download and enables easy access to lists of social housing properties available across the Staffordshire Moorlands. Registered applicants can place bids for their chosen properties via the new technology and once a bid has been placed the App then informs them of their eligibility and position. It also presents options for confirming or cancelling the bid.

Commenting, Nick Grubb, Regional Regeneration Manager for Moorlands Housing said:
“The world of communications has changed significantly and we are continually looking at ways in which new technology platforms can make information more accessible to our residents. The development of this new App demonstrates our commitment to this. By making Homechoice available on iPhone or Android handsets it enables people on the go and also those without home based Internet to put forward expressions of interest for properties and also manage them simply and swiftly.”

Cllr Andrew Hart, portfolio holder for regeneration and housing at Staffordshire Moorlands District Council commented: “One of our key priorities – and of Moorlands Housing – is to make services as accessible as possible by embracing new technology and social media. The new app will provide a convenient channel for media-savvy residents wishing to express an interest in social housing. The use of mobile, Internet-based technology also represents a cost-effective way for customers to do business with public service providers.”

Staffordshire Moorlands Homechoice is a partnership between Moorlands Housing and Staffordshire Moorlands District Council in which the allocation policies of both parties have been merged and a single waiting list created to allow a simple, single point of access for those needing accommodation.
