> Eccles Residents celebrate Christmas at All Hallows School
Residents from Otterburn House, Harvest Housing Group’s sheltered accommodation scheme in Eccles, visited pupils at All Hallows School on Thursday 15th December to celebrate the festive season with a Christmas party. The residents and the students had a merry time singing carols, playing bingo, and tucking in to a Christmas buffet.
There has been a long-standing relationship between All Hallows School and Otterburn House. Last year the boys from the school came to lend a hand in the residents’ garden. More recently, the residents visited the school to help teach the students how to knit blankets and clothes, which were donated to the premature baby unit at Bury Hospital.
Scheme manager for Otterburn House, Pat Clowes, commented: “It was a great day for everyone involved, and really helped get us into the festive spirit. Events like this help bridge the gap between the young and the old, bringing the whole community together. Otterburn House and All Hallow’s School have such a strong relationship with each other, and this party was the perfect way to celebrate at Christmas. The amount of effort the pupils put in was fantastic, from calling the bingo to decorating the hall and preparing the buffet. We’re looking forward to carrying on with a busy programme of events next year!”
Otterburn House is a sheltered accommodation scheme providing independent living for people aged 55 and over. As well as self-contained flats, the site contains communal areas, including a lounge and garden. For more information about Otterburn House, please call Pat Clowes on: 0161 707 1256.
