> Moorlands Housing Upgrade The Georges Centre
Moorlands Housing, a member of Harvest Housing Group, has helped The Georges Centre in Crewe upgrade its kitchen facilities to help the centre cope with the increasing demand from the local community.
The Georges Centre is the only purpose built community facility in Crewe. The popular centre re-opened in 2011 and is well used by all sectors of the community, encouraging local people to connect, get fit, eat healthily, develop skills, find employment and socialise in a safe and fun environment.
Cheshire East Council donated industrial kitchen appliances to upgrade the kitchen at The Georges Centre. Recognising the great work the centre does Moorlands Housing stepped in to provide additional support to help the centre upgrade and install the kitchen facilities.
A surveyor from Moorlands Housing went to assess the kitchen, and worked with the chef at the Georges to design a bespoke new lay-out to suit the centre’s requirements. A team, including electricians, joiners and gas engineers, then fitted out the new kitchen; supplying kitchen units and work surface as well as reconditioning and testing the industrial appliances.
Paul Seymour, Director of Moorlands Housing: “We’re delighted to have been able to carry out these improvements at The Georges Centre and hope they will help it to go from strength to strength. We’re very proud of both our workforce and our commitment to improving communities so it was great to bring both of these elements together in this project.”
The new kitchen will enable the centre to continue to grow and serve the local community.
Louise Musa, The Georges Centre Manager: “Our new kitchen is a huge improvement and we’re very grateful for the help that Moorlands Housing gave us to upgrade the centre. Their staff were fantastic, and went beyond the call of duty to help us serve the local community.”
The Georges Centre is located at the King George V playing fields in Crewe.
