Partington Housing Association, a member of Harvest Housing Group, have won the Peaceful Neighbourhood Award at the iNbiz Awards held at Birmingham’s ICC on Thursday night.

The awards, hosted by comedienne and writer Rhona Cameron at a prestigious gala ceremony, were created by the National Housing Federation to recognise and celebrate the achievements of housing associations.

The Peaceful Neighbourhood accolade is a fantastic morale boost for staff, residents and partners who have worked closely within Partington to deal with the challenges of the area. Due to the exceptional dedication of all involved to build a better community, the neighbourhood seems to be turning a corner.

Pete Wallroth, the Neighbourhood Regeneration Officer for Partington says:

“This recognition is fantastic news for Partington and is testament to the tremendous effort that goes on here. We have an incredibly hardworking team and it’s great to see this is paying off.

I’m delighted for the residents. Our number one priority is to provide a safe and secure environment for them to live in and the ‘Peaceful Neighbourhood’ award shows that we are now some way to achieving this.”

Since the re-organisation of Manchester & District Housing Association in 1996 and the introduction of Harvest Housing Group, substantial investment has been ploughed into the Partington area to improve housing and tackle environmental issues.

As part of a 10-year plan to transform the neighbourhood, which it completed 3 years ahead of schedule, Partington Housing Association formed partnerships with South Trafford College and Jarvis to provide training and employment for local people. They have invested a great deal of time in listening to the needs of the residents and have taken a pro-active approach in tackling anti-social behaviour.

It is these efforts, a culmination of 8-years hard work, which have resulted in Partington Housing Association achieving the Peaceful Neighbourhood Award. They now continue to build on these positive strategies and look forward to implementing further initiatives to help create a safe and peaceful community for the future.
