Harvest Housing Group has pledged its support to local children’s hospice, Derian House by raising £3,000 for the charity at a staff quiz night held earlier this month.

Harvest, whose head office is in Levenshulme, Manchester, is a registered social landlord operating throughout the North West with a number of different housing associations and companies, including Eaves Brook in Lancashire, providing affordable homes and community support for their tenants.

Harvest’s focus however is not exclusively limited to their own neighbourhoods, but aims at benefiting the entire community at large. One of the ways they do this is by supporting local charities and groups with the idea of ‘putting something back’.

Derian House was nominated by Harvest’s Director of Service Development, Kate Forester, who herself lives in Chorley not far from the hospice.

She says:

“The level of care and support offered to the children and their families here is exceptional. The service that Derian House provides is essential, not only to Chorley but also for families across the North West who all benefit from the amazing work that goes on here.

They wholeheartedly deserve our support and we are delighted to be able to make this contribution.”

All money raised for the hospice goes towards the specialist palliative respite and terminal care for children with life threatening or degenerative illness.

It funds the excellent medical care provided by the hospice and also the additional facilities such as the brilliant light sensory room, hydrotherapy pool, and jacuzzi. It also helps finance facilities and equipment that focus on the children’s entertainment including fully equipped games and play rooms, light sensory and music systems and of course the hospice mini-bus, which plays an essential role in outings and activities.
