Accrington’s newly installed Lady Mayor, Janet Storey will be visiting Clayton-le-Moors on Monday 13th June to take a look at improvements being carried out by local housing association Eaves Brook, to homes in the area.

The Lady Mayor will officially open Eaves Brook’s furnished show-house at 39 Queen Street at 12noon on Monday 13th June, which will illustrate to local residents the potential of the properties once the major repairs have been completed.

Eaves Brook are making improvements worth £25,000, to each of their properties on and around Queen Street, Barnes Street, Sparth Road, Albert Street, Chequers etc., to provide good quality, affordable homes to local people. This investment is being funded by Eaves Brook with a grant contribution from the Housing Corporation.

Among the improvements being made are the installation of new central heating systems, burglar alarms, double-glazed windows and new kitchen and bathroom suites.

Melanie Martin, Eaves Brook Customer Support Officer who has co-ordinated the repairs comments:

“ The level of investment we have received for the area is fantastic and will really make a difference to the quality of housing we can offer to residents.

We felt it was important that people have the opportunity to see for themselves the improvements being carried out and the show-house seems the best way to do this. I’m sure everyone will be delighted with the results.”

Residents can arrange to view the Queen Street show-house by contacting the Eaves Brook offices on 01254 306 100 and it is hoped that the properties will be able to rent from next month.
