> Healthy School’s Week in Hyndburn
Local Housing Association, Eaves Brook and their Neighbourhood Management team organised a Healthy School’s Week throughout Hyndburn last week.
Various activities are were held at local schools in the area as a means of promoting healthy eating to both children and parents, particularly the importance of a healthy breakfast.
Events included fruit tasting at Hyndburn Park School, with fruit donated by Asda. The Eaves Brook Management Team also donated fruit to Mary Magdalene’s School and Sacred Heart School.
The activities culminated in a Health Promotion Event at St Nicholas’s school in Church, which took place appropriately after the school’s sports day on Thursday 14th July.
This was held in partnership with the Primary Care Trust’s 5-a-Day team, who promote the importance of 5 portions of fruit and veg a day, and also the local Healthy Heart team.
There was a healthy picnic and freshly made smoothies for all to try, while everyone was encouraged to take part in the basic aerobics sessions, which saw Eaves Brook’s Neighbourhood Management team participate in fruit and vegetable fancy dress.
