Partington Housing Association is continuing with its zero-tolerance approach to antisocial behaviour in its neighbourhoods having served 2 further Antisocial Behaviour Orders and an Antisocial Behaviour Injunction on offenders from the area.
Jason McPhee (19), formerly from Partington and Leigh McPhee (16) who still lives in the area, both appeared in court last week for causing nuisance in the area including serious harassment and subsequently received ASBOs, covering the Greater Manchester area, which will be in place for 2 years until 1st August 2007.
They are both prohibited from causing harassment, alarm or distress, using abusive, insulting, offensive, racist, threatening or intimidating language, using or threatening violence, congregating in groups of more than 3 in public and associating in public with specific persons (as named in the terms of the ASBOs).
They are also both banned from the Partington Area with certain, limited exceptions.
Jason McPhee is permitted to visit his mother at her home address in Partington, once a week only between the times of 9am-5pm.
Leigh McPhee’s order grants him access to the Partington address where he is living and also to his father’s home between the times 9am-5pm. He is also allowed on to Central Road for the sole purposes of visiting the Doctor, Dentist or Job Centre.
He must notify Partington Housing Association prior to any of these visits and is not allowed to be there longer than ten minutes before or after any appointment.
Community Safety Manager, Cathy Bennett said:
“A great deal of hard work has gone into serving these ASBOs by both Partington Housing Association and Greater Manchester Police and we are pleased this has come to fruition.”
She adds:
“With the support of the courts we are sending out a clear message to everyone, that criminal and offensive behaviour will not be tolerated.”
In addition, an ASB injunction has been placed on Partington resident, Richard Knight for causing nuisance and annoyance in the area by shouting and arguing in public on various different occasions, and for also behaving in an intimidatory manner towards a neighbour.
The terms of his injunction mean that if found to be using abusive, threatening or violent behaviour he can be immediately arrested and will be liable for a fine and/or imprisonment.
To date, 15 ASBOs have been served in the Partington area, one by Trafford Council and one by the police. 13 have been successfully applied for by Partington Housing Association (a member of Harvest Housing Group), who has also signed 89 behavioural contracts in their continuing efforts to create a safe and peaceful environment for all the people of Partington.
