Eaves Brook, a member of Harvest Housing Group have teamed up with Rossendale Borough Council to deliver neighbourhood management across Bacup, Stacksteads and Britannia, and yesterday saw the official opening of their office in Bacup.

Although the Neighbourhood Management team have been up and running in the area for the past four weeks, last night’s official opening was a chance for all the partners of the initiative to meet.

Staff from Eaves Brook, Elevate and Sure Start met with Heads of Service, Ward Councillors from Rossendale BC, and the FRB team to discuss the issues surrounding the area and potential opportunities for its development.

Peter Steen, Leader of the Council, officiated the opening before an evening of networking began.

Peter says:  “This was a great opportunity for all the people involved in the Neighbourhood Management initiative to meet and discuss the scheme. A great deal of hard work has gone into setting the project up and it was important that everyone had the chance to talk about future planning and brainstorm their thoughts and ideas.

The project is essentially about local people working for the local area so the evening was a wonderful chance to introduce some of these people and get them talking.”

Residents from throughout Bacup, Stacksteads and Britannia also had the chance to meet the team and put their own suggestions forward when a similar event was held for them on Wednesday.

As a local initiative, it is important that the views of the local residents are heard in order to take the area forward successfully.

Eaves Brook will work with local groups, businesses and organisations to co-ordinate the work in the neighbourhood and make the improvements and changes needed with the hope that residents take the opportunity to voice their opinions.

The Neighbourhood Management Team are located at 17 Market Street, Bacup.  So feel free to drop in.
