Harvest Housing Group are delighted to announce the promotion of two of their staff to director level, after both started their careers with the North West based company as young trainees.

The promotions come as Harvest Housing Group back Skill-City, the most innovative and interactive skills and careers show for young people. Harvest Housing Group are transport sponsors for the event, to enable as many young people from their neighbourhoods as possible to attend the event, which promotes all forms of learning whether it be higher education, training schemes or skills programmes and illustrates that there is a career-path to suit everyone regardless of academic ability.

Lee Woods, who joined the group on a Youth Training Scheme (YTS) in 1986 was first employed as Administration Officer at Manchester & District (as Harvest Housing Group was formerly known) and having worked his way through the ranks has just been promoted to the role of Stock Owning Subsidiary Director for Frontis Homes Ltd, a member of Harvest Housing Group, which develops market rent, key worker and other new housing products.

Paul Seymour, who first came to Harvest Housing Group on a student placement from Salford University began working for the company in 1994 as a Trainee Housing Officer and following numerous promotions has this month been made Director of Service Development for the Group.

Paul credits his passion for customer service as the reason for his success:

“Delivering on promises to our customers is always our priority at Harvest and it’s something I thrive on. There is a genuine commitment throughout the Group for excellent customer service and there is no better job satisfaction.”

Since Lee Woods joined Harvest Housing Group he has gained a Bachelors degree in Housing Studies and a Masters degree in Business Administration, demonstrating that you don’t need to take the conventional routes to college and university to be successful.

Lee Woods comments:

“There is a great deal of pressure on young people these days to continue in further education but it’s not always the most appropriate route for them. The flexibility and opportunities that I was offered through the training scheme should be available to all young people without them feeling that university is the only option.”

Harvest Housing Group are keen to promote the choices open to young people through events such as SkillCity and will continue to encourage and support young people with the aim of creating more success stories like Paul and Lee.
