> New Year, New Look for West Accrington
With Christmas behind us and more wintry weather on the way, you could be forgiven for feeling that this is the bleakest time of the year. Not so, the Neighbourhood Management team delivered by Eaves Brook have been busy planting bulbs and making other environmental improvements to West Accrington to brighten up the area in time for spring.
Working in partnership with Central and Spring Hill Area Council and local community representative Councillor Dad, the Neighbourhood Management team have planted flower bulbs at various sites across the area as a means of enhancing the local environment and to give some colour to the open spaces after the dark days of winter.
Neighbourhood Management together with West Accrington Residents’ Association, have also successfully obtained a Green Partnership Grant from Lancashire County Council to carry out environmental improvements to the large open space adjacent to Princess Street in West Accrington.
Marie Johnson, Neighbourhood Regeneration Officer for Neighbourhood Management team at Eaves Brook comments:
“The grant is fantastic news for the area. A great deal of hard work from both the Neighbourhood Management team and West Accrington Residents’ Association has gone into securing the funds and will now be used for the benefit of everyone.”
The grant will go towards levelling and covering the currently uneven surface of the space, and planting further bulbs to create a fusion of colour for a visually pleasing area for the whole community.
