The Boards of Harvest Housing Group and PLUS Housing Group at their usual Board meetings considered progress on their planned merger.  Both Boards have reached the decision that although the merger has great potential at lots of levels, the time is not currently right for either organisation to proceed at this stage.

“Our first priority is to our existing organisations, the people we serve and our staff teams.  During our merger conversations both PLUS and Harvest have been successful in becoming involved in some major projects and new business ventures.  To try and merge our two organisations at this time would have put unnecessary stress on both organisations” said Chief Executives Ian Perry and Ken Perry.

“The discussions about merger came from our positive work around creating our successful development partnership.  Since then Boards and Senior staff have learnt a lot about each other and this will be a firm foundation upon which both organisations can build for the future.  I expect this will mean gaining efficiencies and developing new ideas through project specific strategic alliances rather than merger, for the next few years at least” added Eric Fazakerley, Harvest Chairman.  PLUS Chairman, Richard Kemp confirmed “both organisations are committed to continuing to develop great projects and ideas together. Currently both parties feel that we don’t need to merge to do that”.
