Eaves Brook Neighbourhood Management have teamed up with Sandy Gate Boxing Club to deliver Fitness 4 Boxing to young people in Clayton-le-Moors.

The non-contact boxing classes are for youngsters aged 10-16 years old and will be held at the Youth and Community Centre in Moor Street.

Enrolment is on Saturday 3rd June 10am – 11am, followed by a boxing demonstration by boxers and coaches from Sandy Gate, until 1pm.

Alison Haworth from the Eaves Brook Neighbourhood Management team said:

“We identified the 10 – 16 year olds as an age group in great need of local facilities. We want to provide them with worthwhile activity and this is a great way for them to socialise and keep fit!”

The local police are backing the initiative and 2 of the community beat officers have even offered help with training.

Eaves Brook Neighbourhood Management have donated £1,397.88 for the equipment as well as co-ordinating insurance policies and enrolment forms.

Classes cost £1 per session, and all equipment will be provided. They will take place on Tuesday evenings and Saturday mornings and further details will be given out after next Saturday’s enrolment.

Places are limited so anyone wanting to enrol should go along to the Youth and Community Centre in Moor Street, Saturday, 3rd June, 10am.
