> Celebrating Partnership Success in Fighting Antisocial Behaviour
On Friday 6 October the Crime & Disorder Reduction Partnership (CDRP) brought together local housing association, authorities and organisations to showcase and celebrate their good practice and success in preventing and tackling antisocial behaviour in West Cumbria.
The event, which took place at the Hunday Manor Hotel, aimed to highlight partnership success over the past 12 months, via a series of speeches and presentations, whilst also build further contacts and alliances between local key players and businesses.
Participating in this innovative event were MP Tony Cunningham, who gave a speech congratulating partners on their hard work and sustainable achievements, and Councillor George Clements, Chairman CDRP.
The format of the day included 6 individual presentations by Cumbria Fire & Rescue Service, Cumbria Constabulary, Derwent & Solway Housing Association, Copeland Homes, Home Housing and Impact Housing Association. The overall award for special achievement was awarded to Cumbria Fire & Rescue Service. Their presentation featured footage of live rescues as well as various workshops with local schools and community groups concerning the dangers and issues underage drinking and reckless driving.
Also taking home special recognition was PC Graeme Hodkin of the West Cumbria Constabulary for his consistent and passionate efforts in reducing antisocial behaviour.
Cathy Bennett, Community Safety Manager for Derwent & Solway Housing Association commented:
“The Celebrating Success Awards was a fantastic event for everyone involved. It was particularly important that we highlight and share the good work that has already been done in our neighbourhoods to counteract the often-negative reports in the press. And these people will go back to work now with fresh ideas, optimism and a will to get even better results in West Cumbria.”
