Lucky pupils from Locking Stumps Primary School in Warrington were taken on a school outing to visit the Houses of Parliament, thanks to sponsorship provided by local housing association, Frontis.

The £500 donated by Frontis enabled 23 pupils from the school, aged 6 – 11 the chance to embark on this exciting trip to visit the capital and this historical and political landmark.

The trip took an interesting and eye-opening turn for all involved when the school encountered some Congolese protestors, holding placards and beating drums.

Anthea Power, Customer Support Officer from Frontis, who accompanied the school on the trip said:

“The children were asking lots of questions as most had never witnessed a political protest like that before. They found the whole experience extremely fascinating and it has generated some interesting conversation and debate amongst them on topics they might never have considered before. It was incredibly educational.”

The children were taken on a tour of both the House of Commons and the House of Lords, and were amazed at the history and grandeur of the buildings.

After their history and politics lesson it was time to relax and unwind with rides on both the London Eye and a Thames River Boat Tour to witness some more famous landmarks such as Big Ben and London Bridge.

Anthea Power continues:

“It was lovely to see just how much the children got from the trip and illustrates the importance of our role within the community beyond simply providing affordable housing.”

Frontis take their commitment to the wider community very seriously and will continue to work with local people, businesses and organisations to deliver on their promises of helping to develop neighbourhoods and the opportunities open to residents across Warrington.
