> Harvest triumphs in national competition
3 February 2006
The Emerging Role of Sheltered Housing (ERoSH) award ceremony saw Manchester-based Harvest Housing Group receive second prize in one of the event’s major categories, missing first place by just three points.
Eunice Taylor, Operating Unit Manager for Sheltered and Supported Housing, commented,
"This is a great achievement in a very competitive national event and we are absolutely delighted with second prize, especially given the number and standard of other entries".
ERoSH, the national consortium for sheltered and retirement housing, held the ceremony at the St Stephen’s Club, London (25 January). This year’s competition, entitled 'Take Another Look at Sheltered Housing,' aimed to highlight excellence, dedication and good practice in sheltered and retirement Housing.
Along with 37 other contenders, Harvest Housing Group entered the 'A Day in the Life' category with their fly-on-the-wall DVD featuring a Day in the Life of Christine Massaro, Scheme Manager at Bannister Brook House – one of Harvest Housing’s Extra Care Sheltered Schemes based in Leyland. The scheme offers an onsite care team and personal care to a third of its residents.
The DVD shows numerous aspects of Christine’s job including providing housing related support and joint working with the on-site Care team. The Group intends to use the DVD as a tool for staff induction and training.
