The New Year is getting off to a winning start for Withington-based Christie Hospital, with a welcome donation coming from serial-fundraisers Harvest Housing Group.

The Group’s legendary annual Charity Quiz Night has once again raised thousands of pounds for charity and they will be presenting a cheque for £3,000 to Christie’s tomorrow afternoon at their head office in Levensulme.

The money will go towards essential treatment for patients in the care of Christie’s, one of the largest cancer treatment centres in Europe and towards further research at the hospital, which is also an international leader in cancer research and development.

Over the past 11 years Harvest Housing Group are proud to have raised over £31,000 for numerous charities across the North West and this year the money will help both Christie Hospital and Guide Dogs for the Blind.

Lynda Murawski, Head of Marketing at Harvest Housing Group said:

“There are so many wonderful causes and we try and support as many as possible, particularly in areas we operate. Very often we come across tenants who are aided by these charities and it’s important we do our bit to help.”

The money raised by staff at Harvest Housing Group is being shared equally between Christie Hospital and Guide Dogs for the Blind, where the money will go towards eye disease research and in providing mobility and freedom to blind and partially sighted people.
