As of 1st April 2007 Moorlands Housing are officially part of the Harvest Housing group.
At a special board meeting in May 2006, the board at Moorlands Housing accepted a recommendation the company should join Harvest Housing group. The decision has been made to help secure a bright future for Moorlands Housing, its customers and communities.
The move to join Harvest has been welcomed by Moorlands customers who have been involved in the process through a combination of community consultation road shows, press releases, newsletters, and focus groups.
A comprehensive legal process over the last 10 months has culminated in Housing Corporation approval for the joining. Staffordshire Moorlands District Council also voted in favour of the move which will bring potential benefits to the district particularly in meeting the increasing demand for affordable housing.
Bob Duncalf, Moorlands’ Chief Executive said: “Moorlands will remain a locally focused organisation but will gain in strength from being part of Harvest. We will still have our own Board and senior management team but will also be represented on the Group Board. As part of Harvest, we will be able to draw on Group resources to maximise on development opportunities in the Moorlands and surrounding districts.”
Harvest’s Chief Executive Ian Perry said “ Moorlands will bring new opportunities to the Group. We have specialist skills and expertise but firmly believe in local delivery and accountability. Together, we have the potential to make a big impact in Staffordshire, South Cheshire, Derbyshire and across the West Midlands.”
Moorlands Housing’s commitment to its customers, and staff will not change and they will remain a registered social landlord managed by its own board of management.
