Partington resident Ms. Catherine Knight has been ordered to give up possession of 64 Oak Road, owned and managed by Partington Housing Association, after a string of serious antisocial behaviour offences against her neighbours over a sustained period of time.

Ms. Catherine Knight will be evicted from the property on Friday 20 April after the application, brought by Partington Housing Association, was upheld by the courts on two separate occasions; the first hearing took place in Manchester on 7 March and the decision was upheld at a second court date on the 18 April at Oldham County Court after an appeal by Ms. Knight.

Steve Glover, Regional Regeneration Manager for Partington Housing Association said:

“This eviction is very much a last resort after we have exhausted all other avenues, including applying for civil injunctions against Ms. Knight and her family, which we hoped would improve and moderate their frankly intolerable behaviour.

Unfortunately the injunctions have had little effect and we have been left with no alternative than to apply for possession of 64 Oak Road for the safety and well-being of other residents in the neighbourhood.”

Ms. Knight and other family members, most notably her son Richard Knight have subjected a number of their neighbours to serious and persistent nuisance harassment and antisocial behaviour over several years.

Incidents have included foul and abusive language, damage to property, threatening and intimidating behaviour including threats to petrol bomb other homes in the neighbourhood, noise nuisance throughout the night
and fighting and violent behaviour including a stabbing incident at the property attended by police and paramedics. Additionally there have been numerous other occasions when the police have been required to attend the address due to nuisance and criminal behaviour.

Steve Glover adds:

“We will not stand for such intolerable behaviour in our neighbourhoods and will take all measures necessary to ensure that it is stopped.

We have worked long and hard together with Greater Manchester police and local residents to gather evidence and this eviction is the culmination of years of work by all involved, which has come ultimately at great cost to Ms. Knight and her family.”

In addition to her eviction, Ms. Knight has also been ordered to pay the Claimant’s costs for the duration of the possession proceedings, which has totalled over £18,000.
