Manchester & District Housing Association is looking for the very best neighbours in Old Trafford, to find the wonderful people who make a real difference to the community.

Local residents are being asked to nominate those people in their neighbourhoods who they feel deserve to be recognised.

Perhaps you have a next-door neighbour who does your shopping for you or perhaps there’s someone you know who rallies everyone and holds residents’ meetings to make things happen. Maybe you know someone ready to take a stand against antisocial behaviour or someone always ready with a cheery smile to make your neighbourhood a brighter place.

Whatever the reason, Manchester & District want to hear why your neighbours are brilliant.

Lorna Powell from M & D, who is organising the initiative said:

“There are so many unsung heroes in our communities and it’s about time their good work is recognised. There are so many positive things going on in neighbourhoods across Old Trafford on a daily basis and it’s important we appreciate the people behind this.”

People can nominate themselves or other people and the winning entry will receive £250 worth of high street shopping vouchers.

The deadline for nominations is 15th May so for an entry form contact Lorna Powell on 0161 912 4671.

The award’s ceremony will take place on 29th May 2007 at the Shrewsbury Street Community Centre Old Trafford.
