Tuesday 29 May marks European Neighbours Day, a day when communities across Europe celebrate the positive work being done by people in neighbourhoods across the globe.
To celebrate the occasion, Manchester & District Housing Association have been scouring Old Trafford to find the area’s best neighbours; those who make a dramatic difference to the lives of others and go that extra mile to help their neighbours.
On Tuesday 29th May, to coincide with European Neighbours Day, M&D will be awarding two Old Trafford residents who stand out for their kindness and compassion.
Lorna Powell, Neighbourhood Regeneration Officer for M&D, who is behind the awards said:
“We often hear about the negative things happening in our local area and it’s all too easy to overlook the fact that there is also a lot of good going on. There are a lot of wonderful people in Old Trafford and it’s great for our entire community that they are acknowledged and celebrated.”
The European Neighbours’ Day is an initiative created by the European Federation of Local Solidarity to foster mutual community support in all its forms, by creating networks for exchanges on neighbourly and community practices.
