Gardening has never been so popular now that local group MADOCG (Moving and Developing Offerton Community Group) are also offering hand massage, pampering and other health activities as part of the bargain.

MADOCG have been working hard to set up a sensory garden in the area (next to 298 Marhill Close) to improve the neighbourhood and encourage community spirit, and even received a grant from the Primary Care Trust to help fund the project due to the health benefits it offers.

The landscaped garden has been created on land donated by M&D, and residents are invited to help with its upkeep by planting sensory shrubs such as lavender and other flowers.

Jan Brown from M&D said:

“The gardening sessions are very sociable occasions and there’s more than enough going on to keep the less green-fingered among us entertained. We have a good chat and a brew, there are lots of health activities and benefits for everyone and we’re happy to welcome anyone who’d like to come along.”

MADOCG and M&D now plan to have short sessions on the first Wednesday of each month through the summer beginning Wednesday 4 July and anyone interested should call Jan Brown or Diane Russell on 0161 419 6452.
