The regeneration of Macclesfield is an important issue for Moorlands Housing, a member of Harvest Housing Group, which recognises the economic benefits of developing the town for the wider area and its residents.

One area of Macclesfield that the organisation is currently focusing on, with the support of Macclesfield Town Council is that of Maplewood. Moorlands are currently preparing a planning application for the building which will include the demolition of the building and its replacement with a mix of shared ownership and affordable homes on the site.

David Lear, Policy and Diversity Officer for Moorlands Housing said:

“We will be putting an application to the council in the next two months for a combination of affordable apartments and houses on the site. We want to give residents as much choice as possible when it comes to buying a new home or indeed getting on the property ladder and of course any redevelopment of Maplewood will help the aesthetics of the town.”

Moorlands Housing will consult with residents over the proposals and are also working closely with planners, architects and Macclesfield Borough Council on the scheme.
