Birchwood has struck lucky on the National Lottery after the Town Council working in partnership with Frontis has been successfully awarded £8,200 to deliver summer holiday activities for local youngsters.

Birchwood Town Council, together with Frontis, a member of Harvest Housing Group, and other partners The Environment Partnership and the Warrington Wolves Foundation, has been awarded the money through the National Lottery’s Awards for All grant scheme.

The activities, to be held at Birchwood High School will be free for youngsters aged 5 – 12 years and will include sports such as tag rugby, tri-golf and football as well as healthy eating courses.

Bernadette Bell Neighbourhood Regeneration Officer at Frontis said:

“The Lottery grant has helped us improve the provision for young people in Birchwood throughout the summer holidays and the fact that we are now able to offer these activities free of charge will make such a big difference to local families.”

Bernadette continues:

“We must also say a big thank you to Birchwood High School who have offered their facilities free of charge, to help make this project a success.”

A spokesperson for the Town Council commented:

“Birchwood Town Council is delighted to be involved with this initiative and is hopeful that local children will be able to make full use of the school".

The summer school will begin Monday 30 July and will run Mon-Fri for five weeks.
