All residents in Allerdale and Cumbria are invited to the “i4Cumbria Gala Family Fun Day”, which is taking place on Saturday 18 August at Derwent & Solway Housing Association’s grounds at Stoneleigh, Park End Road, Workington, from 10am to 1pm.
The renowned Cumberland Sausage Show will broadcast live from the event, and other attractions include a bouncy castle, gladiator duelling, a giant slide, children’s entertainment including a balloon artist, and many other exciting activities.
An impressive one thousand balloons will be released into the sky at twelve noon, and one lucky winner will win the opportunity to ‘Plunge the Plunger,’ and explode four huge balloons to mark the start of the release. The overall winner can choose from either a top brand MP3 player, football memorabilia, or music vouchers from a leading high street store, there will also be other prizes and gifts on the day.
Essentially, the fun day is being hosted by Derwent & Solway Housing Association to introduce the community to Project Asia, (which stands for Access to Services Information and Advice), which will be known as i4Cumbria.
Funded by D&S, the Northwest Development Agency and West Lakes Renaissance through the European Regional Development Fund, the project will provide a web portal (an interactive website), computers and free internet access in various locations in Allerdale; predominantly Ewanrigg, Ellenborough, Flimly, Salterbeck, Westfield, Moorclose, Northside and Clifton.
The web portal has been divided into specific zones designed to provide the community with comprehensive information and advice about a number of matters, such as money, health, employment, education, young people, lifestyle & people, communities and services.
i4Cumbria will officially launch on 18th August and the family fun day is designed to promote this, and those coming to the fun day will be able to interact with trial versions of ‘the eye’ in a specially erected computer room at the event where visitors can access i4Cumbria at their leisure.
