Manchester & District Housing Association are introducing a new initiative in Masons Grove, to encourage good practise among neighbours and to set the standards for both existing and new residents. They will soon be inviting all householders to sign up to the agreement and tomorrow’s door-knock is a face-to-face introduction to the scheme to provide information and to answer any questions.

Jan Brown, Neighbourhood Regeneration Officer for Manchester & District Housing Association said:

“We want all our tenants to treat each other fairly and in a way they would wish to be treated themselves. We believe that by being good neighbours, residents will help us to stop nuisance and antisocial behaviour in the community.”

As part of the agreement both Manchester & District and local residents will have their own responsibilities, outlined in full the agreement, and focusing on five key issues:

- How people conduct themselves
- Crime prevention and community safety
- Children, elderly and vulnerable in the community
- Helping each other
- Looking after the environment

Cathy Bennett, Community Safety Manager for Harvest Housing Group, parent company of M&D said:

“Masons Grove is a good place to live but the actions of a selfish minority can often spoil life for everyone. We will make a united stand against anyone who does not respect their neighbours, their environment, their homes or the law. This community will succeed if we all work together.”

The Good Neighbour Agreement is set to launch later this month and anyone wanting further information should contact Jan Brown at Manchester & District Housing Association on 0161 419 6400.
