> Biddulph East Residents Association
A local resident’s association has been rewarded for their commitment and work within the community, receiving £2,500 for future projects, and voted the overall group winners of Harvest Housing Group’s 2007 Montgomery Awards.
The Biddulph East Residents Association have a proven track record of running a successful community café and resource centre, and aspire to open a furniture exchange along the parade to help local people who need help to furnish their homes.
Both tenants and Harvest staff nominated for the individuals or groups who they felt had made an invaluable difference to their neighbourhoods.
Bob Duncalf, Managing Director from Moorlands Housing, a member of Harvest Housing Group, and who presented Biddulph East Residents Association with their award, said:
“The work they do collectively is incredible. They dedicate so much of their time to the community and it really shows in their achievements. This award is truly deserved!”
Sylvia Rushton (pictured receiving award attached) added;
"It was a wonderful surprise to win the Montgomery Award and a privilege to receive it on behalf of the people of Biddulph. We had a lovely day - a big thank you to Harvest and Moorlands Housing. The money will go towards good causes to benefit the people of the Biddulph community."
The Montgomery Awards are organised by Harvest Housing Group to recognise those groups or individuals who have made a real difference to the lives of others within all of their communities and neighbourhoods. The awards have now entered their 3rd consecutive year, and are named after Harvest’s former Chair, Lady Joyce Montgomery, who is now its Patron.
